Fun with the .22

Below this post is some gun talk, above are some pics from this Sunday afternoon. I bought a .22 LR at a pawn shop, taught Clare to shoot it, and her dad joined in on the fun. I got some video too, which will be up in time. Enjoy!

You what?! Bought a .22! Congrats on your purchase. It will be an integral part of your arsenal. Do you hunt at all? A few years ago I saw that VA led the nation in squirrels harvested per capita. Perhaps you should add to the totals.

Thanks! I really got to thinking about what you and my neighbor have said about the .22 being an intergral piece of weaponry, so I went looking for one. And ouila!

I have not hunted yet, but yesterday I shot a ground hog and a rabbit in the yard with this puppy. I am so pleased with it. It's such a joy to shoot.

We have to plan our day for when we come to IN! Really, looking forward to it. Vienna Coffee and guns. Sounds like a great combo.

Do you hunt squirrel. With the .22 I can only imagine it being tons of fun.

Peace,

Squirrel hunting? I guess we could keep them from the bird feeders that way... but that might keep the birds away too.

For the bird feeders you really want an air gun, IMO. Early season squirrels all but require a shotgun. My .410 bore is just about the perfect gun for this. Once the leaves are off the trees the .22 comes into its own. Vienna coffee and a little shooting will suit me just fine.

If you guys were coming by after August 15th we could go give the local squirrel population hell. Maybe a return trip is in order.
