Raising the Barr

Down here in the BOL, a 1.5" Barr Timber Framing Chisel has finally made its way to the tool box. I've been drooling over it for a year, and decided that now was the time to make the purchase. Anything by Barr Quarton is top shelf, and the wait did nothing to dim my excitement to own one. To say the least.

Being in the wood shop has become a quiet addiction. Yes quiet. I'd rather be there more than anywhere else except home or exploring, but I try not to talk about it (except on the blog or FB) overly much. The work, though fun, is serious and should be approached seriously and respectfully. I also think this thing is getting bigger by the day. Even in a slow economy, the orders are coming in and piling up. It's hard to make heads or tails of this, but it's definitely a bright spot, you know, before Armageddon hits, in say July or whenever.

Just in time for summer vacation.

Anyway, just thought I'd post up and change the scenery around here a bit. Peace out, peeps.

Over and Out,

Maybe TEOTWAKI will happen while I am out there for my visit! I'll be sure to bring a shoot gun and a rifle as well as a handgun or three. I was mentioning to Annie only last night that I have never regretted spending money on quality gear that I believed to be the best. Congrats on your new chisel.

Thanks Martin, LOL. You and the fam would be most welcome here at the BOL.

I am really looking forward to your visit and, as you know, TEOTWAKI.

Thanks for the congrats. The irony is that Barr is actually less expensive than competing brands, but since every TF book essentially says "get a Barr you dunce," I figured I could't go wrong.

In other news, I also picked up a battle rifle (M4gery). I decided I had to have one and raided the building fund for the protection of the building fund. 6 clips from JABTAC and a couple hundred rounds later, we are more properly prepared for the Z apocolypse.

BTW, I will be taking off a couple of days when you come out.

PS--This blog should more properly be called "Discussions between Nick and Martin"

The M4gery sounds sweet. I need to prioritize a battle rifle of some sort among my firearms purchases.
